Leadership isn't always taught in classrooms. Sometimes, it’s learned over coffee with a peer, during a brainstorming session, or through feedback from someone walking a similar path. That’s the power of peer mentorship.

At WEST Latvia Entrepreneurship Club, we see mentorship not as a top-down transfer of knowledge, but as a two-way street where both sides grow. When young people mentor and support one another, they develop empathy, communication skills, and confidence. They also build lasting networks that are often more impactful than formal training.

Peer learning creates a safe environment for experimentation. It encourages risk-taking, idea sharing, and collaboration. For example, a university student might guide a high school volunteer through their first pitch. Or a recent graduate might share lessons learned from their first failed startup. These exchanges build a sense of community and accountability.

In the long run, peer mentorship helps shape leaders who are not only skilled but also emotionally intelligent and socially conscious. It teaches young entrepreneurs how to lift others as they rise—an essential quality for anyone hoping to lead in today's world.
